WorldAtlas, launched in 1994, is described as "one of the largest publishing resources in geography and other topics it covers" on its website. A new list published by WorldAtlas on July 13, 2025 includes Albion, Indiana among the "9 Picture-Perfect Main Streets in Indiana."
The article highlights the Albion Courthouse Square Historic District, "spread over 7.5 acres" and comprised of "about 61 notable properties, the most prominent among which is, fittingly, the red brick Noble County Courthouse built in the Richardsonian Romanesque style."
The article goes on to note the work of the Albion STAR Team, recognizing that the Indiana Main Street Affiliate "works diligently to improve and maintain the historic structures, as well as coordinating projects to ensure Downtown Albion is an inviting space for all."
"We are excited to be recognized for the beauty of our historic downtown," commented Lori Gagen, president of the Albion STAR Team. "In a community as small as Albion, it takes a lot of people coming together with a shared passion to preserve and enhance what we are blessed to have here. We have a great community!"
The Albion STAR Team is currently working on two significant projects during 2025 and welcomes community input and engagement to help see them through. The 501c3 non-profit organization is currently seeking letters of support from community members and organizations for a proposal to be submitted in August regarding the possible re-purposing of the historic Town Hall, an art deco-style structure designed by renowned Indiana architect Alvin M. Strauss in the 1930s. The Team is also seeking bids for renovations to the 1980s era gazebo located on the southwest corner of the courthouse lawn.
